Bio:

Bob Gill is responsible for managing ARC Advisory Group’s business operations and market research activities in Southeast Asia. ARC provides technology research and advisory services – ­including a growing Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) practice – to clients comprising the world’s leading automation and software suppliers as well as many prominent companies in the oil & gas and chemicals industries.

He joined ARC Advisory Group in 2014 after a decade-long career in industrial technology media, most recently as Editor-in-Chief at Singapore’s Contineo Media, where he had editorial management responsibility for the Control Engineering Asia, Asia Food Journal, PharmaAsia, Logistics Insight Asia and Payload Asia titles, while also concurrently being Editor of Control Engineering Asia.

As a qualified engineer with 15 years’ experience in automation, manufacturing and logistics, his career has included stints at companies such as British Aerospace, GEC, and the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech).

At GEC, he was project manager for a factory data collection system, which included the successful use and implementation of the UK’s very first fieldbus network (WorldFIP), in 1993. In Singapore, he was a member of the SIMTech project team that developed the warehouse control system for Singapore Airlines’ first fully automated cargo terminal (T6). The project received the Institute of Engineers Singapore (IES) Prestigious Engineering Award in 2003.

Bob graduated from the University of Wales (UK) with a BSc in Electronics and an MSc in Manufacturing Systems Engineering. He also has a MBA from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. As well as numerous articles for industry publications, he is a contributing author to the books Action Learning Cases In Organisational Behaviour (2004) and Many Ships, One Boat: Expat Tales and Tips (2011).
